Tony Anniballi Park at Pegan Cove
The park was named after Anniballi, who was killed in action during World War II. Pegan Cove is named after the Pegan family, Praying Indians who lived in the area during colonial times.
From the mid-1800s until the 1940s, the town operated a pumphouse that filtered runoff through a series of filter beds before being pumped into Lake Cochituate (at one time, the lake served as a source of clean water for the city of Boston). Some iron fencing and stone walls are all that remains of the pumphouse.
This is a 22-acre site acquired by the state in 1973 and leased to the town.
